Configuration Manager

  • Provide configuration baseline control throughout the life cycle of highly complex information systems as well as component software and hardware elements. 
  • Establish and/or maintain a system to record modifications to hardware, software or documentation.
  • Establish and maintain non-software configuration library in team collaboration site.
  • Facilitate and advise Configuration Control Boards (CCBs). 
  • Maintain allocated, functional and physical baseline control and ability to perform audit support. 
  • Review all engineering change requests to assess impact upon configuration baseline and logistics support elements. 
  • Maintain configuration control records and technical documents. 
  • Work closely with quality assurance and management representatives to ensure accurate and well-documented product baseline. 
  • Prepares directives for change authorization and implementation.
  • Conduct quarterly configuration audits of project assets against prescribed control systems and versioning.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for configuration management of their respective deliverables and products.
  • Develop best practices and tools for configuration management.

Qualifications

  • At least 8 years direct work experience in Configuration Management.
  • 4 or more years experience with software configuration tool such as PVCS, Subversion, Git, Rational, and Visual Source Safe (VSS).
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.

Preferred Additional Skills

  • Strong familiarity with collaboration software, such as MS Project, SharePoint, Jira.
  • VA and/or Healthcare IT experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with agile/SCRUM lifecycle management.
  • Experience working on CMMI Level 3 programs.
  • Proficient in spreadsheet, MS Office and Database applications.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment without losing ability to multi-task.
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
  • Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.
  • Flexible during times of change.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • May require some work beyond standard hours.
