Risk Management Analyst

  • Talk with clients and project team to assist the project/program managers in reducing risk and creating capital. This will be done by analyzing financial statements such as the P&L (profit and loss), company budget and employee headcount reports, software development plans, schedules, test reports, and other operational data and communications to turn out reports showing the proposed plan of action by compiling charts, graphs and other presentation materials.
  • Identify, categorize, and quantify risks and implement corresponding mitigation strategies.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
  • Identify and manage risks based on project dependencies and critical path.
  • Define goals and deliverables or risk activities that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Effectively communicate project risks and activities to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to mitigate risks or implement contingency plans.
  • Draft and submit budget proposals for risk activities or mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations related to risks.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for risk mitigation in their respective areas.
  • Develop best practices and tools for risk management.


  • At least 8 years direct work experience in a team lead, risk or project management capacity, focused on risks management and control.
  • 4 or more years experience with project management software, such as MS Project, Primavera, SharePoint.
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.

Preferred Additional Skills

  • VA and/or Healthcare IT experience strongly preferred.
  • PMP certification.
  • Experience with agile/SCRUM lifecycle management.
  • Experience working on CMMI Level 3 programs.
  • Superior analytical, research and problem solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand context of work and potential problems throughout downstream and parallel activities as well as across stakeholder groups.
  • Experience managing software development and implementation programs.
  • Proficient in spreadsheet, MS Office and Database applications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment without losing ability to multi-task.
  • Creative problem solving skills to bring together people to execute solutions and keep clients’ goals in perspective.
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
