Security Analyst (Mid/Sr)

  • Independently perform complex security analysis of existing systems for compliance with security requirements. 
  • Use a variety of security techniques, technologies, and tools to develop, integrate, and implement security solutions into highly sensitive computer systems and networks. 
  • Perform vulnerability and risk analysis, and participate in a variety of computer security penetration studies. 
  • Analyze and define security requirements for computer systems, which may include mainframes, workstations, and personal computers. 
  • Design, develop, and implement solutions to meet security requirements.
  • Gather and organize technical information about an organization's mission goals and needs, existing security products, and ongoing programs in computer security. 
  • Participate in most phases of the systems lifecycle including preliminary and final design, systems development, integration and testing.
  • Acts as a security liaison for the technical team to the project leadership team and management.
  • Communicates regularly with internal and external customers.


  • At least 6 years information technology experience and 4 years network security experience.
  • 4 or more years in software security testing (intrusion detection, buffer overflow, information assurance).
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.

Preferred Additional Skills

  • VA and/or Healthcare IT experience strongly preferred.
  • CISSP certification.
  • Experience with agile/SCRUM lifecycle management.
  • Experience working on CMMI Level 3 programs.
  • Must have an up-to-date understanding of the security measures at all stages of the IT systems life cycle.
  • Ability to understand an organization’s business in order to know what computerized functions or data are irreplaceable which they cannot afford to lose.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment without losing ability to multi-task.
    Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
  • Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.
  • Flexible during times of change.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to explain complex information simply and accurately.
  • May require some work beyond standard hours.
